Book review - Riding the Pale Horse

Riding the pale horse” by Dr George Paul was a Party favour given to the delegates of an asian conference of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. The book holds his real life experiences in handling cancer patients. The details are compiled in such a way that they cover all aspects of dealing with the disease from a patient’s standpoint, a surgeon’s perspective, a family member’s perspective and you must believe me when i tell you it also involves a pet parent’s perspective. In 230 pages he has imparted so much wisdom that shall greatly benefit any young doctor who is getting started with his/her practice. Not necessarily oral md maxillofacial surgeons alone. Having spent very little time with senior surgeons while they share their practical experiences I greatly enjoyed the time I spent reading it as the book gave me a feeling of being an assistant shadowing him through all those happenings, such descriptive writing. My colleague made fun of me for saying this and she felt I should rather spend my time sleeping like her than reading the book however I assure you this read will definitely improve your patient handling skill at some level. The book also features ethical, moral and legal aspects of handling end of life situations. At a personal level I jad been holding grudges that my grand parents died at very inconvenient times of my life and never forgave them. Somewhere between those 230 pages I had realised they had lived a complete life and I should be happy with that and found my peace. The book also motivated me to make the most of my time so that I could be happy too when its time for me to go. So you see if you want a little peek into a Doctor’s life with added perks of enhancing your knowledge on end of life situations this should be your next read. If you are an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon its a must read. Its a heavy book yet somehow it leaves you light hearted. A Surgeon’s touch probably. 🏇
I was hoping to see the author n get his signature on my copy but I missed him this time but I got the time to write the review and may be read it again before I get to see him.

Kilvalai Rock Paintings

The rattaparai - kilvalai rock painting site is located very close to the city of Villupuram in Tamil Nadu.  The locals call this place rattapparai - which means twin rocks in Tamil, this could also mean blood rock which might be the name given due to the colour of the paintings. The exact location is in the taluk of Kandachipuram where agriculture is the major occupation of people till date. This might explain the crops surrounding the site and the need to walk in a very narrow path up till you climb on the exact rocks that have the paintings. The ASI has put up a fence around but its right on the rocks so I think this still is a private property. It's quite visible from the main road so once you park the vehicle and cross the short narrow path you will be climbing on the rocks.  The paintings are on top of the rocks so you will have to climb all the way up.  The way up is not steep so you can safely walk up.However you might need some good shoes with anti -slip properti...

Moon Day🤍

If I were to name this year I’d call this my year of inconsistency. I have never been quite weary of my deadlines ever in my life. This year I am just not finishing my projects if the deadline is something that I came up with and finishing them right on time if it is something that concerns others. I usually use the moon to calculate my progress. That is the main reason why most of my new book releases are around full moon days. This year during the buck moon I was in the Taj Mahal releasing the cover and first chapter of my next book. This day was also the Buddha purnima day. Since I was sitting in the mosquitoes and was quite busy with the cover designing and the next day was also a big day I did not write much that night. Originally because my mobile was dying and I did not want to be without the aid of a mobile phone till I reached my hotel room after the taj view at night.  There are two reasons why I love the moon. One is because it os always a part of the sky when I a...
